ORD RIVER MARATHON - June 2022

What an experience it was for our club to be involved in the 2022 Ord River Marathon.

It was wonderful to meet so many other paddlers from around Australia with teams challenging themselves as they paddle the 55km long  journey from Lake Argyle down the Ord River to Lake Kununurra.

Participating teams in the 2022 Ord River Marathon included ;

Fremantle Swans Dragon Boat Club (WA)
Perth Pirates (WA)
Coffs Spirit Dragons (NSW)
Great Lakes Pearl Dragons (NSW)
NAVMAT (ACT)
Invictus Dragons (ACT)

Our team didn't quite conquer the Ord in this years marathon, but they did a mightly effort trying and we are looking forward to particpating again in the future.on.

FEB FIT has been a hit

Our club Feb Fit program saw a wonderful turnout of new comers having a come and try session during the Feb Fit  promotion sponsored by Mix 104.9FM and HOT100FM, with our boat nearing full capacity each Tuesday evening.

Many thanks to both radio station for this wonderful initiative.  Both Mix 104.9FM and the  HOT100FM crew visited us during the promotion with both crews having a go at paddling.  The HOT100FM crew ended up paddling with us for our hour long session on  Tuesday 22nd February, with them both doing really well.

Thank you to all the members who came along  in uniform each Tuesday evening to support this program.

From this program we have had  new members  join our club, with others also expressing an interest in joining.

Kleenheat Community Grant

Being a club that encourages both social interactions and a healthy lifestyle plus some competitive camaraderie we received notification at the end of 2021 that our club had been successful in securing a $1,000 Kleenheat Community Grant in the category of Health and Wellbeing.

The $1,000 grant from Kleenheat will go towards maintenance of the hull of our dragon boat which will assist with our monthly clean hopefully making it easier for us all to maintain.
